Krung Thai on San Carlos near Leigh. Remember that when the menu says something is hot, they generally mean it. If she likes hot food, however, and eats meat, and duck is wonderful. Comes served in a hollowed-out pineapple half, so it is festive, too.

Market Street, San Jose (between Santa Clara and San Fernando St., one block north of Fairmont Hotel) was ranked 3 1/2 stars by San Jose Mercury News two weeks ago. This place has great food, service, and atmosphere - excellent for Mother's Day.
