I would suggest Rainwater's (1202 Kettner Blvd, (619) 233-5757), which has excellent food, and a private room that might fit your need. It is not far from the Convention Center, and, IMHO, it is better than most of the restaurants closer to the Convention Center. Otherwise, you might try the Chart House at the Old San Diego Rowing Club (525 Harbor Dr. (619) 233-7391). They are between the Convention Center and the Bay.
