I've never been disappointed in a restaurant in the Gaslamp district. If you are planning to eat out during the weekend you should make reservations as this is also the "happening" area of central San Diego. Another area to try would be just north of downtown on India Street (Little Italy district). Restaurants there vary from upscale to casual, but all very good. Go to Zucchero on India Street for gelato that will make you SWEAR you are in Firenze! Lois
