Here's a list of places from San Diego Magazine's Restaurant Issue (August 91). READER'S CHOICE Best of Best (Expensive): Mille Fleurs, Top O' The Cove, George's at the Cove Best of Best (Moderate): Il Fornaio, Fio's, Pacifica Grill Best Service (Expensive): Mille Fleurs, Top O' The Cove, Mister A's Best Service (Moderate): Il Fornaio, Fio's, Cindy Black's Best Decor: Peohe's, Fio's, Il Fornaio Best Dining w/View: Mr. A's, George's at the Cove, Peohe's Best Romantic: Top O' the Cove, Mille Fleurs, George's at the Cove Best Outdoor Dining: Il Fornaio, Casa de Bandini, La Valencia Best Chinese: Panda Inn, Chang, Mandarin House Best Japanese: Cafe Japengo, Yae, Yakitori II Best Sushi: Mr Sushi, Samurai, Cafe Japengo Best Asian: Celadon, Le Bambou, Karinya Most of these restaurants are in the Del Mar/La Jolla area which will be between Oceanside and San Diego. If you have any questions about them (you probably will :) ), send me email, and I can provide phone numbers, descriptions, etc. I haven't been to all of them, but I've been to many of them. Also, there are other categories on the Reader's Choice poll that I *didn't* list because I haven't been asked about them. Things like seafood, italian... Since you specifically asked about seafood (and since the issue this came from is at home :-/) I'd like to recommend Point Loma Seafoods for lunch. It's a small place, but the fish is VERY fresh and good. The Fish Market is also pretty good. Avoid Anthony's (except for the Star of the Sea Room which I hear is a lot better than their chain locations).
