There's a whole restaurant "scene" now on Main St. in downtown Pleasanton. Most or all of the places have outside tables, giving a sort of sidewalk-cafe look to the place, and several places have very good food. I haven't yet been to Blue Agave Club (high-end Mexican) but it looks promising. Other places include Casa Madrid (Spanish/tapas), Strizzi's (Calif./Italian), Bruno's (Calif./Italian), Le Pleasant Jardin (Calif./Continental), Pastas Cafe (pasta), Alberto's (Mexican, so-so), Tong's (fancy Chinese), Momo (Japanese), Claude & Dominique's Bistro (French). All are within a few blocks, on Main St., except Claude & Dominique's, which is just off Main.
