Yes, you heard it right, there's now a Japanese joint in downtown Palo Alto that makes this incredible offer. You can eat all the sushi you want for that one low price but there's a lot more in the buffet than just sushi. Check it out. The name of the restaurant is too tough to remember but, for those familiar with Palo Alto, it is located just one block south of Burger King on University.

The Japanese restaurant that serves the all-you-can-eat sushi is on High Street, set back from University Ave (there's this little plaza-space in front of the restaurant).

The name of this restaurant is "Minokichi".
Its address is 150 University Avenue (at High Street).

I went there sometime before Christmas and I thought it was a good deal for the sushi alone, a nice assortment of some of the less bizzare nigiri to be found. I thought the other dishes like the salads and the miso soup were okay, but nothing great. I think the $6.95 deal is a grand opening special, and the price will eventually go up to $8.95.

Based on the earlier recommendation, our family ate at Minokichi last Saturday. Minokichi is a Japanese buffet restaurant with the same owner of Fumiyoshi?, a similar restaurant in Mt. View that's been reported by ba.food. .

They offer about a dozen kinds of sushi, such as tuna, yellowtail, squid, octopus, salmon, and California roll. The portions of fish are generous--fairly thick and falling over the rice. The fish was very good--no off flavors. They also offer a salad bar, miso soup, and green-lipped mussels, boiled shrimp, and hot dishes.

The service (clearing plates and refilling water and tea) was excellent.

Minokichi has been open about a month, and they have an introdcutory price. Weekday lunch is $6.95; weekend lunch is $8.95. I think dinner is $12.95.

We liked this much better than California Buffet. The food is good, and the price is excellent during the introductory pricing.
