Funny you should ask. Isobune, a good and reasonably priced sushi-on-a-boat joint in Japantown, has a Burlingame branch. Check it out!

Any good restaurants in Burlingame?

My three favorites in no particular order: Stacks A great breakfast spot with the best pancakes I've ever had, good service, fair prices and a convenient location. Near Burlingame Ave and California St. La Scala An authentic (read: appropriately-seedy!) Italian restaurant that packs their excellent dishes with enough garlic to straighten (or curl) your hair. On Burlingame Ave. Brothers Deli A traditional jewish-style deli with great deli treats. One block off of Burlingame Ave. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Maller Husband & Father General Magic, Inc.

It's ok, but a bit on the greasy side -- and their potatoe dishes have the potatoes a bit under cooked. However, Stacks is an order of magnitude better than JoAnne's in San Mateo -- what a horrendous place! On Broadway nearer El Camino you will find restaurant Jun. A Japanese restaurant with tatami rooms and a small, but excellent, sushi bar. When I want super sushi in this area, I go here. I've taken a group from a Japanese client here and they said it was as good as good places in Tokyo. There's also a ramen-ya on California a bit north of Stacks. If you venture a bit south to San Mateo, then I can heartily reccomend quite a few places... #1 on my list is Spiedo's on 4th just west of B street -- an absolutely wonderful Italian place, just fantastic (more of a review will come in a couple of days). #2 for Japanese is Restaurant Mutsu on Baldwin a block west of B street. A great, small family run place with a small sushi bar. Everything I've had there has been very good. Their lunches are, as usual, a bit cheaper than the dinners, but the dinner menu is a bit larger. The best deal going for lunch has to be their yosenabe (for about $8) -- an 8 or 10 inch cast iron pot full of broth, noodles, some veggies, chicken, fish, been, pork, etc., easily a meal for two or take some leftovers home for dinner... Seriously, a wonderful place without the high prices, and unfortunately without the tatami rooms. #3 for Thai food is NipaPon on 25th ave just west of El Camino. Wonderful Thai food. Interestingly, San Mateo has been getting more and more good places to eat. And, the entire city is non-smoking in restaurants (but not bars)! ! ! ! Within two blocks of 25th and El Camino in San Mateo you will find: Ghandi (Indian), La Fonda (very good Mexican), Kosta's (Greek), Thai, Russian, Southern BBQ, Fish/pasta, a few Chinese restaurants, and a few weeks ago a Vietnamese place opened up (WITH VIETNAMESE SANDWICHES!!). Things are picking up in this area...
