You might want to Blake's Steakhouse in downtown San Jose...

I'm a native midwesterner.

Your dad will like the prime rib at Garden City,
on Saratoga Ave just north of 280,
though he may find the atmosphere either sleazy
or delightfully decadent, depending on how he
feels about poker and jazz.

I've also gotten midwestern-palate-pleasing meats
at these locations:

   * Birk's American Grill in Santa Clara, north of 101,
between Great America and San Thomas,
a bump on the side of those whacking
great office towers next to Pedros.
Kinda noisy and busy, great beer selection.

   * Stoddards brewpub, on Murphy in Sunnyvale

  * McArthur Park on University in Palo Alto, just west of El Camino

Anyone ever eaten at Sundance?

I am surprised that no one mentioned Kinkaids in Burlingame...

Great food, great service and kinda pricey though -- worth *every* penny.
