Okay, I hope this isn't too late. For whoever wanted to know about good Asian or Mediterranean food in the Santa Clara Valley, I have a bunch of suggestions. There are many different restaurants that it is difficult to keep track of them all. Anyhow, I'll start with Indian food. If I remember correctly, there were a few reccommendations for Sue's Kitchen and Gaylord's. Both of those restaurants are very good, but I think my favorite Indian restaurant in the area is Pasand, which is on El Camino Real, in a shopping center next to Lawrence Expressway. The food is excellent, the portions are large, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable (under $10). They also have live sitar music on some nights. On the other hand, if you are more in the mood for Chinese food, two places that I would reccommend are Chef Chu's (in Mountain View, I think; it's been a long time since I've been there) and (my favorite restaurant in the area) Loon Wah, which is on De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino. My family has been going to Loon Wah since it opened and we have always been pleased with the meal and service. It is sorta across the street from Nob Hill, if you go there and have trouble finding it. If Thai food is what you're looking for, Siam Restaurant on Stevens Creek Boulevard in Santa Clara has been written up in various newspapers in California as being the best in Thai food. I've only eaten there once, as it is a little pricy (still under $15), but the food is excellent. Going through more of Asia, probably the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area is Khan's Garden, where the food is good and the prices are low. If you wanted Middle Eastern food, there are a few Persian/Caspian restaurants on El Camino Real. For a more traditional, Italian meal, Niccolino's Garden Cafe in Sunnyvale (not too far from Great America) is FANTASTIC. It is a fancy place and I would reccommend reservations, especially for Saturday nights, when they have entertainment. Whatever you like, you are bound to find it. If you want more information or suggestions, write to me about it.
