I'm a fan of Indian food. I've tried Sue's Kitchen (Mt. View), India Cookhouse (Mt. View), Taj Palace (Sunnyvale), and Gaylord (Palo Alto), but I was most impressed with Le Tandoor on San Antonio at El Camino in Los Altos. Discovering Pete's Wicked Ale there favorably influenced my impressions. Good service, too.

A trip down Big Basin Way in Saratoga is well worth your time, very quaint shops, and a few outstanding restaurants. My favorite: Carribean Cafe. They have a large menu of usual and not-so-unusual delicacies, prepared well and served beautifully. The seafood (huge chunks of lobster, shrimp and scallop) with pasta in a saffroned cream sauce is outstanding. Prices are about $15-25 a person. Also try Bella Mia (Italian) or Le Mouton Noir on the same street. Oh, and if you have room, check out the bittersweet chocolate fondue at La Fondue for dessert...

My favorite restaurant in silicon valley is Chef Wang's located on 212 Castro St in Mountain View. Whenever I am in the area I make a beeline to CW's and get the Spicy Seafood noodle soup and a plate of steamed dumplings. Be sure to take a friend as you can't eat all of the food by yourself and the total bill w/o liquid refreshment is less than $10.
