Bancheros near the San Leandro/Hayward border. It's either on E14th or Mission -- the name changes near there. If you can't find it in the yellow pages ask me and I'll get you the exact address. It's family-style Italian -- which everybody likes, as far as I can tell. No private rooms that I know of, but it's huge and given notice they'll reserve whatever you need. My wedding rehersal dinner was there and we had around 20 people including kids without any problems. Mom was quite pleased when she got the bill and saw how low it was. :) They also have take-out at absurdly low prices. If you want to just kind of stick your head in, take a look, and sample some food beforehand you can get some salmon and soup to take home in 15 minutes. . . and if you call ahead, it'll be waiting for you when you show up. They just had *their* 50th anniversary, so they must be doing something right. The only downside is that they're doing so well they can actually do things like take vacations every year, and I think they're closed on Mondays. East Bay Recommendations Needed
I'd recommend Banchero's also. A complete dinner includes bread, soup, salad, anti-pasto plate, pasta/ravioli plate, veggies, entree, and dessert (spumoni or vanilla ice-cream or sherbet). Try the Scallone (scallop-abalone sauteed type of patty), make sure you have the Tangerine sherbet, and you sure as heck can't beat the bar prices.
