La Pinata in Hayward. Pinata is good at all hours, but especially at 2:30 AM, just before the 3:00 AM close. Try the Burrito with sauce and cheese over it (forgot the menu name). For under $5, you can't get a better plate of food. Pinata gives La Costena a run for the $$$. It's in a sleazy part of Hayward, on Mission Blvd., but there's usually 2-3 cops in there. It's no surprise that most donut shops in Hayward have gone under. Pinata's refried beans are the right combination of beans and cheese. The salsa is fiery hot. And it's much cleaner than La Imperial, not to mention a far more authentic atmosphere.
