Kreuz Market in Lockhart and Luling City Market are as good as it gets around here. Also outside town the Salt Lick is great (though often too crowded). In town, I like Artz Rib House, the Iron Works, and Ruby's near campus. Ruby's has a funky Austin feel and has great brisket, great sausage, but the sides are hit and miss (try the home fries). They now have (but I hadn't tried) St.Louis style ribs. I like Ruby's. I eat there often. It's OK, but I sure wouldn't put it on any top 10 lists. The brisket is uneven and sausage is sausage. Their new Guinness stew is great, though. Cheers, Dusty
