A young woman holding a revolver gives this photographic print its title, "Revolver girl," and places it within the cowgirl imagery that was popular around 1912. The print carries the copyright line of the Celebrity Art Co. of Boston and the number 4, which suggests it was one of a numbered series issued for public sale. Women trick shooters were a common attraction in Wild West shows and on vaudeville stages in that period, and Annie Oakley was the best-known example, so the picture reflects a wider fascination with women who handled firearms with skill. The record does not name the sitter, so the image's interest rests mainly on its pose and its subject.
