A bride being dressed in the hour before her ceremony is the subject of this stereograph, one of many scenes of domestic life that stereo publishers sold in the early 1900s. The card was issued by the Sterro-Photo Company of Dolgeville, New York, around 1907, and carries a copyright registration in the name of C.A. Richmond, a figure worth noting for anyone tracing the regional trade in stereo views. Cards like this were viewed through a hand stereoscope, so the two slightly offset images gave the gowned figures a sense of depth that a flat print could not. Wedding dress of the period was elaborate, with layered skirts, lace and long fastenings, so the scene also records the labor involved in getting a bride ready.
