Football at West Point in October 1912 meant a visit from Yale, and this glass negative records one of those meetings on the Academy grounds above the Hudson. The Army-Yale series had been a fixture of the fall calendar for decades by then, drawing cadets, alumni and large crowds of spectators. The picture came from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news photographs to newspapers, and its glass negatives were made to be printed quickly for publication. The title and date come from the agency's caption data, which has not been independently verified, so the details should be read with some care.
