The Fordson Major was a British-built tractor, produced at Dagenham from the late 1940s, and the badge on this one is what sets the picture apart from the rest of the tractor and equipment images on the board. A close crop on the maker's lettering shows the wear that comes from years of weather and field work, with the blue paint flaking back to bare, rusted metal. Ford's Fordson line dated to 1917, and the Major was one of its most widely sold models in Britain and abroad, which is why its emblem still turns up on old machines in barns and yards today.
