The page opens with the heading "Das erste Buch Mose," the German name for Genesis, and its first chapter tells the creation story. The German wording reflects Martin Luther's translation, first published in full in 1534, which became the standard Bible text across German-speaking lands. Its place on a board about magic reflects a common practice, since scripture was often copied, carried, or hung as a protective charm, and the opening verses of Genesis were among the passages most often chosen for that purpose. The record does not say how this page was used, so it may have served as a devotional text or as a charm.
