This 1896 color poster advertises the February issue of *Lippincott's*, the Philadelphia literary monthly published by J.B. Lippincott Company, and it is credited to J.J. Gould, Jr. Magazine posters like this one were a common way for publishers of the period to attract readers to newsstands and bookshops, and *Lippincott's* was known for serialized fiction and essays by popular writers of the day. The record comes from an older caption card and has not been fully verified, so the artist attribution and exact printing details are worth checking against other sources.
