Lou Tellegen and Geraldine Farrar are the pair named in this glass negative's caption, dated February 7, 1916. Farrar was then a leading soprano at the Metropolitan Opera and had recently begun making silent films, while Tellegen, a Dutch-born actor, was known for romantic leads on the stage and in movies. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news photographs to newspapers, produced large numbers of such pictures, and its caption information was often written quickly, so the identification here is recorded as unverified.
