*Mobilizing Michigan for farm and factory* asks the state's residents to take part in a U.S. Employment Service survey, tying its fields and assembly lines to the war effort. The Federal Art Project, part of the Works Progress Administration, produced posters like this one in the early 1940s to inform the public. Wartime demand was pulling workers from farms into factories, so the Employment Service used surveys to learn where labor was available and where it was short. A January 1943 date stamp shows the poster stayed in use well after it was first printed.
