The title names Ford tractors, and the 1920s saw many American farms begin to swap horses and mules for gasoline-powered machines. Ford's Fordson tractor, built from 1917, was among the cheapest and most widely sold, and mass-production methods helped put it within reach of ordinary farmers. This negative comes from the National Photo Company, a commercial studio, and its title and date are recorded as unverified. The glass shows streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of its original coating.
