Louis M. Glackens, a cartoonist for the humor weekly *Puck*, drew this color centerfold for the magazine's November 9, 1910 issue, titled "Young America and the moving-picture show." By 1910, nickelodeons had spread through American cities, and many reformers, editors and parents worried that cheap films were drawing children toward crime. Glackens's satirical treatment joins a wider press debate over whether the new medium was harmless entertainment or a corrupting influence on the young. Its full-page color placement shows how much attention *Puck* gave the topic.
