Titled "Miss Katie Stone," this view is labeled as a scene on "Newski," probably Nevsky Prospect, the main avenue of St. Petersburg. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., firm that produced many views and portraits, made the glass negative sometime between 1909 and 1919, when St. Petersburg was still the imperial capital of Russia. Because the title comes from unverified company data, the location and subject should be treated as provisional. Streaks and blemishes across the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coatings.
