Water is the central subject here: a long reflecting pool set among formal buildings, a design tradition associated with Mughal gardens in India. The record does not name the site, but the pairing of pool and monumental architecture recalls tomb gardens such as the Taj Mahal. London designer Fred Taylor made the poster, and Adams Bros. & Shardlow printed it sometime between 1930 and 1940, when Britain marketed India to Western travelers as a destination under its rule.
