Its Russian title, "My stroim kommunizm!" ("We are building Communism!"), states the poster's message outright. It was published in Moscow by Sovetskii Khudozhnik, a state art publisher that issued many propaganda posters during the Soviet period. Slogans like this one were common in Soviet visual culture, linking factory work, farming, and everyday life to the long-term goal of a communist society. The Communist Party's 1961 program had set a target of reaching communism within a generation, and posters repeated that promise through bold graphics and short, direct text. The Library of Congress holds this copy as a gift from collector Gary Yanker, who published a book on such material titled *Prop Art*.
