*Under Four Flags* was promoted as the third official United States war picture, and this 1917 color lithograph advertises it under the title "Under Four Flags," with a group image attributed to Martiny. The film was distributed by the World Film Corporation and presented by the Division of Films of the Committee on Public Information, the wartime agency chaired by journalist George Creel to shape public support for the war effort. The record notes that its footage was taken by the official photographers of the Allied armies, so the poster links a commercial film release to the government's effort to show American and Allied soldiers and communications at work. The subject headings on the record point to soldiers and military communications, which reflect how these films presented the war to home audiences.
