A color lithograph advertising toys for Christmas, this poster was printed by the Strobridge Lithographing Company, which worked from Cincinnati and New York. In the 1890s, firms like Strobridge produced large runs of bright commercial posters that merchants pasted in shop windows and along city streets. This poster shows how the holiday was becoming an important retail season, with manufacturers and sellers using vivid color and festive imagery to draw families toward toy counters. Its mix of holiday cheer and direct sales appeal is typical of the period's advertising.
