A Locomobile tow truck parked in front of a garage is an unusual subject, since the Bridgeport, Connecticut company was better known for its expensive touring cars than for commercial vehicles. Its early steam-powered cars had built its reputation, and by the late 1920s it was selling high-end gasoline models. Garage tow trucks of this period were often built on a truck or car chassis with a winch and hoist for hauling disabled vehicles. The record dates the photograph only tentatively to 1928, so the exact year is worth checking against other sources.
