The title, *Rush, Columbia*, names a rush of some kind in a place called Columbia, but the record does not say what the rush was or which Columbia is meant. The title comes from notes the Bain News Service wrote on the negative or its caption card, and it has not been independently verified. George Grantham Bain's news photo service operated in New York in the early 1900s, and its glass negatives document American news, politics, and daily life of the period. Glass plates like this one captured fine detail and were the standard for press photographs before film replaced them.
