Save his life and find your own" urges this 1943 Office of War Information poster, which directs readers to write to the Student Nurses office in New York City. Issued during World War II, when military hospitals and civilian wards faced shortages of trained staff, it belongs to a series of federal posters that tied everyday careers to the war effort. Its pairing of a wounded man's survival with the viewer's own career choice shows how wartime recruiting appealed to personal duty. That same year, Congress created the Cadet Nurse Corps to train more women for the profession.
