Listed as item 10 in a set, this entry gives little beyond its title and a date of 1750, so the specific scene it shows is not identified. The record calls it a photo print, but ukiyo-e was made by woodblock, with designs carved into blocks and pressed onto paper. Around 1750 the form was in the Edo period, when artists in Japan's capital produced prints of actors, courtesans and city life for a broad urban audience, mostly in black ink with some hand coloring, since full multicolor printing did not arrive until the 1760s. These prints remain useful records of everyday Edo culture.
