The title, *Ready to Press*, points to the stage between harvest and cider, when picked apples wait to be crushed and squeezed. For generations, farm families and neighbors pressed fruit in autumn, grinding it in a mill and then pressing the pulp to release the juice, and the work set the rhythm of the orchard year. The record gives few details about this particular scene, but it shows a step of rural labor that changed little until mechanized processing took over.
