This ink drawing shows the Palace theater, also listed as the Empire theater, at the corner of South Eutaw and Howard Streets in Baltimore, directly across from Ford's Opera House. Drawn in 1929, it belongs to the Library of Congress's collection of architectural and engineering drawings, so it reads as a working design record rather than a view of the street. The Howard Street corridor was one of Baltimore's main entertainment districts, and the 1920s saw many of its houses adapted for motion pictures, which makes this sheet a useful record of how the city's theaters were planned in that decade.
