Estelle Taylor was a stage and screen actress who worked through the silent film era, and her name appears here on a glass negative from the Bain News Service. The record gives no date, and the title comes from caption information the agency recorded, so the identification is not independently verified. Bain, a New York photo agency that supplied newspapers with news and celebrity pictures in the early twentieth century, produced many portraits like this one for quick publication. Taylor later became known to a wider public through her marriage to the heavyweight boxer Jack Dempsey in 1925.
