Kingdon Gould and his wife appear in this glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection, the Bain News Service archive held by the Library of Congress. Gould was a member of the Gould family of financiers and railroad men in New York, and the Bain agency photographed prominent society figures of that era for newspaper use. The record gives no date, and the title comes from unverified caption information written on the negative or its card, so the identification and the occasion remain uncertain. The image is worth noticing for its format: a glass plate of this size was the standard working medium for press photographers in the early twentieth century.
