Promising to help thin readers gain weight, this color lithograph from about 1895 advertises Loring's Fat-ten-u and "corpula" foods. Weight-gain tonics like these were a steady seller in the 1890s, when patent medicine makers made bold health claims with little oversight. The print was copyrighted in 1895 by the Gribler Bank Note Co. and based on a photograph by Bakers Art Gallery. It was later displayed in the Library of Congress exhibition *American Treasures* in 2004 and 2005.
