Ramon's Tonic Regulator promised to act on the liver, kidneys and bowels, a claim typical of the bold health promises patent medicine makers printed on posters in the 1890s. This color poster, dated 1898, was issued by the U.S. Printing Co. of Cincinnati, and the record credits Russell, Morgan & Co., though that attribution comes from an old caption card and has not been verified. Before the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 required more accurate labeling, posters like this were a common way for proprietary remedies to reach shoppers, and their large lithographed claims are worth reading closely as advertising history.
