At the dinner table, a dog has chased a cat onto the back of the children's father, and the two children seem to be enjoying every moment of the uproar. Published in Cleveland, Ohio, around 1874 by J.F. Ryder, the picture belongs to a popular tradition of comic domestic scenes that turned ordinary family life into slapstick. The title does much of the storytelling, and the children's delight is worth noticing, since their reactions carry the joke as much as the animals do. The record credits A. Willard as the creator.
