Crystal Cascade is a waterfall in Pinkham Notch, on the eastern flank of the White Mountains, and it is one of the older tourist sights in the state. The falls drop in a series of steps through a narrow gorge on Mount Washington's slopes, a setting that drew hikers and summer visitors from the mid-1800s onward as the rail and stagecoach routes opened the region. Its name refers to the clear, cold water that tumbles over granite ledges, and the scene shows why it became a fixture of White Mountain travel guides and postcards.
