This glass negative is labeled "Copeland & Ralston" with the date March 25, 1924, though the record notes that the title comes from unverified information the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, so the names and date should be treated as provisional. The negative came to the Library of Congress as a 1947 gift from Herbert A. French and belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, a body of work from a Washington, D.C., commercial photography firm active in the early twentieth century. Visitors should look for streaks and small blemishes, which the cataloguers attribute to natural deterioration of the original emulsion coatings, a common problem with glass plates of this age.
