Cannes is sold here as a resort for both seasons, as the title's pairing of "été" and "hiver" makes clear. This color lithograph poster, published in Paris by Lucien Serre & Cie in the 1930s, promotes the Côte d'Azur coast as a place to visit year-round. Cannes had drawn wealthy winter visitors since the nineteenth century, and by the 1930s the French Riviera was also building its reputation as a summer destination for sunbathing and sea bathing. Posters like this one helped shape that shift in how the coast was marketed.
