Renée Adorée, the French-born actress, appears here in a publicity still tied to Goldwyn Pictures, the studio that became part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1924. Adorée arrived in Hollywood in the early 1920s and quickly became known for vivacious, sympathetic roles in silent films, including her later work opposite Lon Chaney in The Big Parade. The picture comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, a body of news and studio photographs gathered by the Bain News Service in New York, now held by the Library of Congress. Its date is not recorded, so the caption's studio attribution is the main clue to its origin.
