The only identification here is the title "Senator Gore," which the Bain News Service wrote on its negative or caption card and which has not been verified. The name most likely points to Thomas Gore of Oklahoma, who served in the Senate from 1907 to 1921, though the record does not confirm it. Bain's agency supplied news photographs to newspapers in the early twentieth century, and its glass negatives were made for quick reproduction in print. Because the record gives no date, the portrait is best understood as one of many public figures the agency photographed during that busy period.
