The sheet is titled for *Caviar* and dated December 1929, a page of graphite and ink marked up for a sound cartoon. Time sheets like this one broke a musical score into beats and frame counts so that an animator's drawings could be timed to the soundtrack. The method became central after synchronized sound arrived in American films in 1927, when animation studios suddenly had to make pictures move in step with recorded music. Because the sheet joins a musical score to a production schedule, it shows how the craft of animation was being reorganized around sound at the end of the 1920s.
