Lindley is the only identifying detail on this glass negative, and the name comes from caption cards or sleeves that the Bain News Service attached without verification, so the subject itself is uncertain. The plate measures 5 by 7 inches or smaller, the format the Bain operation in New York used heavily in the early twentieth century. George Grantham Bain founded the service around 1899 to supply newspapers with pictures of current events, public figures and city life, and the Library of Congress now holds these working files. Viewers should treat the title as a lead for further research rather than a confirmed identification.
