Unlike many pictures in this collection, this one is identified only by a string of seven surnames: Wright, Lindley, North, Christensen, Stanton, De Boliac and Wilson. That likely reflects a group portrait or a set of people connected by a single occasion, but the record does not say who they were or what brought them together. The title comes from caption cards and has not been verified. The George Grantham Bain Collection came from a news photo service that Bain started in New York around 1899. Its glass negatives, many made for newspapers in the early 20th century, are a valuable record of the period, though names on the caption cards were not always checked.
