The record names a railroad, "L.S. R.R.," and a food train, but it gives no date, place or photographer, and the title itself is unverified, taken from notes the Bain News Service wrote on the negative or its caption card. The Bain agency, run by George Grantham Bain in New York, supplied newspapers with news pictures from about 1900 into the 1920s, so this glass negative probably comes from that working period. Food trains of that era often carried supplies during wartime rationing or labor disputes, but without more detail the picture's specific purpose cannot be confirmed.
