The only surviving record for this view is a small glass negative labeled "Dugan, N.Y.," a title the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve, though the cataloguers did not verify it. The company, based in Washington, D.C., produced large numbers of views of American towns and landscapes for postcards and printed illustrations in the early twentieth century. The date of about 1925 is inferred from other negatives in the same range. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers should note the streaks and blemishes on the glass, which come from the natural breakdown of its original coating.
