The title page of the March 1758 issue of *The American Magazine, and Monthly Chronicle for the British Colonies* carries a woodcut beneath the motto *Praevalebit aequior*, and William Bradford's Philadelphia imprint places it squarely in the Seven Years' War. Its catalog subjects cover British and French colonies, Native nations' relations with colonial governments, and questions of allegiance, all matters contested in the French and Indian War. Colonial periodicals like this one gave readers news and opinion on those rivalries, and the image is a useful window into how colonists framed loyalty during the conflict.
